\"judges\"The Book of Judges tells the story of the 12 hero’s raised up to keep Israel on the straight and narrow between the time of their entry into Canaan and the arrival of Samuel the last hero judge and the anointer of David the King. After telling the stories of the Judges, the book concludes with a \u00a0run of\u00a0ugly incidents which phraseology and chara
\ncters indicate actually occurred towards the beginning of the book chronologically, \u00a0these cover the creating of a silver idol, the corruption of a Levite to serve it as priest, then the capture of the idol and priest to serve the whole tribe of Dan who have been conquering territory outside of \u00a0the promised land. Then a Levites concubine is gang-raped and dies by some Benjaminites, leading to civil war. Despite being out of sequence these incidents help draw the point at the conclusion of the book, that the period of the judges was a violent and relatively lawless period.<\/p>\n
